Sexual Assault Awareness Month is an annual campaign to raise public awareness and educate communities and individuals on how to prevent sexual violence in the US.
1 in 5 women and 1 in 16 men are sexually assaulted while in college. Statistics underestimate the problem because many victims do not tell the police, family, or friends about the violence, but it doesn’t mean that it didn’t exist.
In order to combat this reality, since 2015, the Kering Foundation is supporting It’s On Us, a campaign designed by Generation Progress with the support of the White House. With this partnership, the Foundation intends to raise voices, because "it’s on all of us to stop sexual violence on campus".
A video focusing on “consent” has been released last year and it has been viewed by more than 4.3 million in YouTube & FB.
Events on campus, such as round tables, screenings and workshops, have been organized by the students. So far, the It’s On Us campaign hosted 1,200 events on 503 campuses reaching millions of students nationwide.
